Dicalcium Malate

Three tablets deliver 1000mg of calcium in a patented and highly bioavailable form called dicalcium malate.Similar to calcium citrate, dicalcium malate (calcium that is chelated to malic acid) is better absorbed than inorganic calcium salts like calcium carbonate and is gentle on the stomach. Solgars DiCalcium Malate tablets provide a source of highly bio available organic calcium with the additional advantage of cellular energy support provided by malic acid.

Dicalcium malate offers advantages over the other organic calcium forms because each molecule of malic acid has two carboxyl groups instead of one, allowing a calcium ion to be attached at each carboxyl site. This effectively doubles the amount of calcium obtained from the malate complex. Therefore, Dicalcium malate delivers the best of both worlds: the superior solubility and bioavailability of calcium citrate with more elemental calcium per tablet. Another advantage is its extened half-life. A recent study found that of the four calcium forms tested, Dicalcium malate raised serum calcium levels for the longeest period of time. In addition, malic acid is an organic acid that plays a key role in the production of cellular energy.
