Also known as vitamin B5, the name pantothenic comes from the Greek word
“panthos” which means everywhere. Some refer to pantothenic acid as the
“anti-stress” vitamin because the body uses it to produce cortisone and other
adrenal hormones that are used up by the adrenal glands during periods of
physical or emotional stress. Vitamin B5 functions as a coenzyme to enhance the
metabolism of carbohydrates and fats, and is involved in the production of
healthy skin, hair, nerves and red blood cells.*
