More Gordon Protocols
How to Bypass the Bypass
Also critical to the
Gordon protocols is oral chelation with calcium
EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetate).
“The
ability of EDTA to remove toxic metals is critical to your overall health and
particularly important for preventing and fighting cardiovascular disease,” says
Dr. Gordon.
Dr. Gordon discovered that
by manipulating the molecular environment of a patient’s bloodstream, utilizing
a unique synergistic nutritional support formula based on the life’s work of Dr.
Lester Morrison, of Loma Linda University Medical School, he was able to
document significant improvements of blood flow to the legs, head, and heart of
patients experiencing problems of blood clots, heart spasms and arrhythmia.
So impressive were his
results that, even without adding powerful intravenous chelation treatments,
fewer than five percent of his patients found the need to go on with previously
proposed or strongly recommended heart of blood vessel surgery. If chelation
and oxidative therapies were added (when indicated), this number diminished to
less than one percent.
Dr. Morrison has already
extensively documented a better than 70 percent reduction in second heart attack
rate with his nutritional formula. Some fifteen years ago, when Dr. Gordon
worked with Dr. Morrison, he added oral EDTA to Dr. Morrison’s formula. Using
this along with other anti-atherogenic nutrients, Dr. Gordon was able to make
the Morrison Heart Formula easier to take, more concentrated, and even more
effective.
“EDTA not only binds lead and cadmium, both closely associated with
vascular disease, but also picks up free iron,” notes Gordon’s colleague and
supporter Robert J. Rowen, M.D., in his excellent newsletter, Second Opinion.
“You already know that iron can be as deadly as it is life giving. Iron, when
it’s bound by enzymes and proteins, is healthy in the right amounts. When the
iron isn’t bound, it’s a powerful generator of highly destructive free radicals,
but it’s also available for EDTA binding and removal!”
Excess free iron is now widely recognized as an important
contributor to heart disease. Thus, we need to be able to remove iron from the
body. Meanwhile, lead and cadmium are seriously underrated for their
contribution to heart disease. These must also be removed, advocate Drs. Gordon
and Rowen.
Now how about effectiveness? According to Dr. Rowen, “The medical
literature around the world has repeatedly shown a dramatic kidney and fecal
elimination of lead via oral EDTA chelation, some two-and-a-half to three times
as much as without! (This compares favorably to the five-fold excretion of lead
induced by IV chelation.) One study documented removal of 1,200 to 2,600 mg
lead in just five days with oral chelation. Elimination far outstripped any
possible increased intestinal absorption of lead pulled into the system by the
EDTA. A compilation of the literature over the past 50 years documents such an
overwhelming consensus of the safety and efficacy of oral chelation that the
[Food and Drug Administration] has approved it for the treatment of lead
poisoning.
“Remember that modern humans have 1,000 times the lead in our bones
as our 16th-century ancestors. It does not take a nuclear physicist to realize
we all could stand to lower these awesome poison levels, and this simple and
inexpensive treatment can do just that! Now, if there’s enough absorbed oral
EDTA to reach for lead, it stands to reason that the other toxic metals (such as
cadmium and free iron) will be picked up as well.”
How to Enhance EDTA Efficacy
According to Dr. Gordon,
“The overall benefits of oral chelation with EDTA can be markedly enhanced by
adding the beneficial lipid lowering effects of red yeast and beta-sitosterol,
as well as a combination of grape seed extract, fish oils,
methylsulfonylmethane, phosphatidylserine, red marine algae,
Ginkgo biloba, high-allicin containing organic garlic,
among more than 50 other ingredients, most of which are well documented and
known to improve circulation, reduce strokes, and promote health and
longevity.”
So keep these ancillary
nutrients in mind as you use oral chelation.
Use Oral Chelators Daily
It has been noted that oral EDTA effectively lowers lead from soft
tissues and organs but not from bones, say both Drs. Gordon and Rowen. Thus,
stored heavy metal would serve as a source of permanent exposure, as the lead
slowly escapes the bones, they add. “It’s really quite important that we use
oral chelation therapy daily so that we can take care of our long-term
endogenous lead exposure,” says Dr. Gordon.
Indeed, recent research, published in The New England Journal of
Medicine, demonstrates that reducing lead levels is a key to improved kidney
function among persons with serious kidney disease. We also know that
environmental lead exposure is associated with high blood pressure, cancer,
dementia and other organ dysfunction.
Say Drs. Rowen and Gordon, “The bones are the greatest reservoir of
lead in the body.”
Prescription for Bypassing the Bypass
You’ll need to read
Healthy Living regularly to learn about all of the protocols deemed
important to bypassing the bypass. Certainly, in these special reports with Dr.
Gordon, we’ve given you important steps to take.
Recommended EDTA-based
Formula
Cardio-Chelate™
from Metabolic Response Modifiers (also known as MRM) was created to meet the
needs of those interested in the “alternative” approach to heart and circulatory
health. Besides EDTA, the formula also supplies methylsulfonylmethane (MSM),
N-acetyl-cysteine, and vitamin C.
While EDTA stands alone in
its ability to remove toxic metals and abnormally metabolized minerals from the
body, vitamin C, MSM and N-acetyl-cysteine can enhance its effects. These
nutrients are vital for supporting the liver during the detoxification process.
MSM and NAC are precursors to glutathione, a powerful free radical scavenger
involved in the liver’s detoxifying enzyme system. Vitamin C is a proven
antioxidant and has been shown to prevent free-radical damage to cells in the
arteries. Be sure to supplement with a quality multiple vitamin and mineral
formula.
Beyond Basics, also from MRM, is designed to be used to complement their
oral chelation formula.
Dosage
Take two capsules, one to two times daily, with meals.
Availability
Cardio-Chelate is available nationwide at natural health centers and
from health professionals. To find a natural health center in your community
carrying them, contact MRM toll-free at (800) 948-6296.
FYI: Lead and Osteoporosis
If you have osteoporosis, oral chelation is something you need to
seriously consider. Osteoporosis patients are exposed to a significant release
of the lead, which is released from their failing bones.
Editor’s note: We are grateful to Dr. Gordon for
taking the time out of his busy schedule to speak to us about oral chelation and
hope to bring you more breakthrough reports. Dr. Gordon is available to
